“We took her home from the NICU when she was three weeks old. She was dressed her a red onesie that had a vintage Wonder Woman decal sewn on the front. It is very common in the heart community for parents to refer to their babies as superheroes. I suppose it is because after you watch them go through what they do and survive, it feels superhuman to us. We bought the onesie before she was born, completely unaware that we were bringing a ‘heart hero’ into the world.”
